Welcome to all Friends of UNC Women’s Basketball 2024-2025!

Thank you to our generous WBBHEELSUP Team from the 2023-2024 season

Thanks to your generosity, WBBHEELSUP was a great success in its first year. We were able to provide airfare for eighteen parents to watch their daughters play in Chapel Hill. Many parents chose to attend the Duke game, which was also Senior Night, making their experience even more meaningful.

In return, the team volunteered at the Ronald MacDonald House in Chapel Hill, serving meals to families of children receiving care at the UNC hospital. It was a wonderful experience for the team and the patients’ families.

The team was able to thank our donors personally at a Meet and Greet at Coach Banghart’s house. It was impressive and inspiring to hear these young women speak about their journey to one of the top women’s college basketball programs in the country.

THIS SEASON

Coach Banghart has been busy this recruiting season. In addition to the nine returning players on the roster, including Alyssa Ustby and Lexi Donarski, there are five new players. The 2024-2025 season kicks off in November, with the first game against UConn on November 15th, followed by the ACC regular season in December.  Here’s a link to the schedule: https://goheels.com/sports/womens-basketball/schedule.  The ACC will be even more competitive this year as it expands to eighteen teams, including Stanford and Cal.

Our community is special. How the community interacts and supports our players is unlike any other program. As a result of your generosity, the WBBHEELSUP program has become a differentiator for UNC Women’s Basketball, and an example of how our community supports the team like family.

We are going to do it all again this season. Our fundraising goal for the year is $16,000. This would allow us to bring twenty parents, or other family members who otherwise might not have the opportunity to watch their daughters play twice in Chapel Hill.

We are also increasing the number of events and opportunities for donors to meet the players and coaches this season including another Meet and Greet with the team, and other volunteer opportunities for the players.
